Dr. Maichou Lor Wins Grant to Study Equity in Hearing Health Care

Maichou Lor, PhD, RN, and her Co-Principal Investigator, Dr. Sara Misurelli of the School of Medicine and Public Health, were awarded a 2025 Dissemination and Implementation Research Pilot Award to support the project titled, “Equity in Hearing Healthcare: Dissemination of a Pilot Study on the Hmong Recognition Test with AI-Automated Scoring Intervention.”  The project is co-sponsored by the University of Wisconsin Institute for Clinical and Translational Research and the Wisconsin Partnership Program.

The primary goal of Dr. Lor’s project is to enhance innovative Hmong word recognition tests by developing and evaluating an AI-automated scoring approach to support hearing evaluations and assess the feasibility of implementing this innovation in a simulated audiology clinic. The investigative team includes Drs. Roger Brown, Barb King,  and Junjie Hu. The total award is $147,455.
