Dr. Kitty Mongomery Wins Grant to Study Child and Caregiver Perspectives of Cancer Symptom Management

Kitty MontgomeryKitty Montgomery, PhD, RN, PCNS-BC, was awarded a Palliative and Support Care DOT Faculty Pilot Grant to support the study Risk-Stratified Approaches to Symptom Management for Children with Advanced Cancer. The study is funded by the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.

The purpose of this study is to explore child-caregiver perspectives of symptom management. The study team will engage with a Childhood Cancer Advisory Panel to determine the acceptability of a proactive approach to symptom management in children with advanced cancer. The primary outcome of the panel is to create a preliminary risk-stratified approach for symptom management ready for feasibility testing. The investigative team includes Dr. Kat Phelps. The total award is $15,450.
