Elliot Tebbe, PhD, LP, was awarded a five-year R01 grant funded by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities to support the project “A multidimensional investigation of social support for transgender and nonbinary people and its impacts on health and well-being: Measurement development using community engagement.” The primary goal of Dr. Tebbe’s project is to identify the most crucial aspects of social support for transgender and nonbinary (TNB) populations for reducing adverse mental health outcomes and to develop the measurement tools necessary to support future prevention and intervention strategies that can build and leverage social support to improve TNB mental health.
The investigative team includes Dr. Stephanie Budge (School of Education – Counseling Psychology), Dr. Patrick Habacker (University of Nebraska–Lincoln), Dr. Roger Brown, Dr. Kat Phelps (Wisconsin Network for Research Support), and Tony Schiefelbein. The total award is $3,812,390.
