Dr. Jingxi Sheng Awarded Grant to Study Breast Cancer in Asian American Women

Jingxi Sheng, PhD, RN, was awarded an Internal Research Grant Award to support the study Exploring the feasibility of leveraging physical activity to reduce breast cancer risk in Asian American women. The study is funded by the School of Nursing Research and Scholarship Committee. The goal of the project is to examine feasibility of collecting biospecimen and objective physical activity data among Asian American women, with the ultimate goal of providing a promising solution to lower breast cancer rates in this community. The investigative team includes Barb King, PhD, RN, APRN-BC, FAAN (primary mentor), Maichou Lor, PhD, RN (collaborator), and Roger Brown, PhD (statistician). The project also benefits from community support from the Lao Buddhist Temple of Madison, Madison Sah-lang Church, and the UW-Madison Asian American Student Union. The total award is $24,820.
