Dr. Jingxi Sheng Receives Grant to Study Culturally Tailored Breast Cancer Prevention

Jingxi Sheng, PhD, RN, was awarded an American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant to support the study Culturally Tailored Breast Cancer Prevention: A Pilot Program to Mitigate Cancer Health Disparities in Asian Americans. The study is funded by the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.

The primary goals of this project are to evaluate the feasibility of a culturally appropriate breast cancer prevention program for Asian Americans that integrates knowledge about breast cancer, screening, and promoting physical activity as a breast cancer risk reduction strategy, and to determine the “best buy” for the future implementation and dissemination to a larger population. Partners include the Wisconsin Network for Research Support (WINRS). The total award is $60,000.
