UW-Madison nursing students express concern as federal legislation changes professional degree classification

Federal legislation is changing what areas of study are considered “professional degrees,” altering eligibility for federal loans and leaving students concerned about their future.
Nursing is one of many degree programs that used to be considered a “professional degree” but will no longer have the same opportunities as before.
UW–Madison nursing students say they are heartbroken and frustrated by this change.
