2023 NAO Award Winners
The University of Wisconsin–Madison Nurses Alumni Organization (UW NAO) proudly announces the 2023 NAO Award Winners. Mary Gulbrandsen, MS’74, RN, PNP, has been selected as the 2023 Distinguished Achievement Award recipient, and Tolu Oyesanya ’11, MS’12, PhD’16, has earned the 2023 Outstanding Badger Nurse Award.
2022 NAO Award Winners
The UW–Madison Nurses Alumni Organization is proud to announce the 2022 NAO Award Winners. Jean Johnson, MS’78, PhD, RN, FAAN, has been selected as the 2022 Distinguished Achievement Award recipient, and Zhiyuan “Effy” Yu ’15, PhD’19, Cert’19, has earned the 2022 Outstanding Badger Nurse Award.

The most recent NAO award winners—Canary Savage Girardeau Cert ’55, who received the Distinguished Achievement Award, and Cassondra (Cassie) Dietrick ’19, who received the Outstanding Badger Nursing Award—serve as exemplary leaders in the profession and society.
2019 NAO Award Winners
The UW Nurses Alumni Organization (NAO) salutes alumni each year who have made significant contributions to the nursing profession. The most recent winners—Nancy Kaufman ’71, who received the Distinguished Achievement Award, and Jessica Kendall ‘14, who received the Outstanding Badger Nursing Award—both give their time and talent to the School and are members of NAO and the Badger Nurse Network.
Nurses’ Alumni Organization Recognizes Outstanding Alumni
The Nurses Alumni Organization (NAO) recognized two alumni at its annual Homecoming brunch. Dr. Michelle Byrne, ’79, MS ’86 received the 2017 Distinguished Achievement Award, and Elisha Smith ’14 received the 2017 Outstanding Badger Nursing Award.
