Dr. Wendy Halm is Clinical Professor at the UW-Madison School of Nursing. Wendy has been a family nurse practitioner for 23 years, working in both private practice and academic institutions. She maintains a clinical practice at Advocate Aurora Health providing walk-in clinic and employee health services. She teaches in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program and also serves as the Nurse Educator certificate coordinator, providing leadership and administrative oversight. Wendy is a UW-Madison Teaching Academy Fellow and Certified Nurse Educator®.
Clinical Scholarship focus areas
Health Systems and Policy
- Participation in multi-site NIH quality initiative grant which aims to decrease
inappropriate use of antibiotics for select acute respiratory infections utilizing
Registered Nurses working to the top of their licensure.
Professional Practice and Education
- Dissemination of best clinical practice of common orthopedic conditions.
- Investigating use of electronic health record embedded clinical decision support
tools with risk stratification with use of RNs to lead initial acute respiratory
infection assessment and treatment.
Teaching and Learning
- Developing and evaluating nurse educator curriculum and program.
- Organizing content throughout AGPCNP specialty track to be aligned with
national standards. - Creation of active learning instructional activities, including use of simulation and
technology.
