Dr. Jennifer Fiegel-Newlon is an Associate Clinical Professor at the UW–Madison School of Nursing. Jennifer is dual-certified as a Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 23 years of experience working in rural outpatient clinics, the emergency room, and summer camp settings. A staunch advocate of mental health care, Jennifer teaches in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program, primarily in the psychiatry DNP track. Jennifer infuses her teaching with insights gleaned from extensive experience with diverse patient populations.

Clinical Scholarship focus areas

Teaching and Learning

  • Developing and delivering psychopharmacology education, with a focus on clinical case evaluation for practical application of knowledge.
  • Developing and delivering interprofessional educational experiences in collaboration with the School of Social Work and School of Pharmacy.
  • Creating and delivering active learning activities for both in-person and virtual environments, aligned with national standards of education.

Professional Practice and Education

  • Invited speaker at the Wisconsin Nurses Association Annual Pharmacology Conference. Submitted article on Interprofessional Education Simulation.
  • Psych Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in a Rural Community Outpatient clinic.

Community Outreach and Engagement
