Dr. Rachel Gicquelais, PhD, was awarded a COVID-19 Response Research and Education grant to support the study Responding to dual epidemics of COVID-19 and overdose among people who inject drugs in Wisconsin. The study is funded by the Wisconsin Partnership Program (WPP) in the School of Medicine and Public Health. The primary research aim is to understand overdose risk, COVID-19 vaccine uptake, and related attitudes and behaviors before and after a novel intervention. The investigative team includes Dr. Ryan Westergaard (co-PI, Dept of Medicine), Dr. Hannah Segaloff (epidemiologist, CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer at Wisconsin DHS), and Mrs. Kristen Grimes (Director of Prevention Services at Vivent Health).
