Dr. Kristin Merss Awarded Grant to Study Incarcerated Older Adults

Dr. Kristin Merss was awarded a 2026 Emerging Researchers Pilot Grant to support the study, “Characterizing and describing intra-prison transitions of older adults in prison.” The study is funded by the Aging Research in Criminal Justice & Health (ARCH) Network 2026 Pilot Award.
The primary goals of this project are to develop a deeper understanding of older adults’ experiences during prison-to-prison transitions and identify and characterize prison-to-prison transitions, their antecedents, and outcomes for older adults compared to younger adults. The
total award is $50,000.
