In celebration of the School of Nursing’s centennial, artist Tia Richardson created a mural for the atrium in Signe Skott Cooper Hall. She gathered input from students, faculty, staff, alumni, and partners through a series of surveys, workshops, observations, and campus visits. These conversations provided her inspiration for the mural design.

Richardson’s vision was to create a mural with many layers of paint by many hands. Community members had a chance to help paint the mural at a series of events in January 2024, and 134 people participated.

Richardson completed the mural with assistance from her artistic helpers, and it was officially unveiled by Dean Linda Scott at a ceremony on May 6, 2024.
