What is a fun fact about you?
I love volleyball! I played since I was 10 and played throughout college at Northwestern University. Now, as a parent, I have coached all three of my kids in volleyball and continue to coach through Madtown Juniors, a local club.

Tell me about your role and what you like about working at the School of Nursing.
In my role, I’m mostly the career advisor for the students. I really enjoy talking with students about their future, thinking about where they want to be and helping them get there. I help them troubleshoot questions and just figure out what their next steps are.
I’ve seen a lot of students make connections in different ways, which I love. I’ve helped them connect with alumni through the mentor program and connect with each other through some leadership initiatives. I’ve really loved seeing them come together and make connections with each other.
What has helped you along the way to grow and develop your career here?
I have always enjoyed the staff in Academic Affairs and coming to work with such amazing people inspires me.
What really motivates me to grow is the amazing students I have worked with throughout my time here at UW. From the student-athletes to the nursing students, I have always had the pleasure of running student leadership groups and helping students explore and find connections to further their career goals.

What advice do you have for someone who wants to start a career here?
Advising and student services is a passionate group that works hard and plays hard. You can find us all pitching in to make a student event or student concern a success, but you can also find us enjoying campus on a walk to a coffee shop and enjoying each other’s company.
My advice is to have fun with those that you work with and learn to support each other. Being part of that kind of community is extremely rewarding.
Every position on our campus makes an impact on our campus community and beyond. How does your role contribute to the Wisconsin Idea?
I love connecting with and helping students. Come find us in Academic Affairs anytime. I would encourage students to take the initiative and sign up for leadership roles! It is a great way to get to know staff and leadership and make amazing connections with other students. It is also a great way to leave your mark on the program.
