Professor Tluczek is interested in understanding the intersection of the multiple contexts of childhood chronic illness, child development, family dynamics, and socio-cultural milieus. Her scholarship blends her experience as an advanced practice nurse and her expertise as a psychologist to examine the impact of genetic screening/testing on families and the quality of parent-infant relationships. She also works in partnership with the Great Lakes Intertribal Council to advance culturally congruent nursing care in tribal communities and to create a pathway for American Indian students to enter nursing careers.
