Abby Hammes, PhD, RN

Biography

Dr. Hammes is a pediatric nurse, interested in health policy, nurse-led care coordination, and improving the efficacy and efficiency of healthcare systems. She graduated from UW-Madison with her PhD in Nursing in August 2023. Dr. Hammes’ dissertation and program of research focuses on improving community resources for children with medical complexity and their caregivers. She is committed to working collaboratively with providers, patients and families, payors, and policy makers to facilitate coordinated access to the right care at the right time for all patients. Her passion for equitable access to community resources that promote a child and family’s wellness drives her lifelong pursuit of knowledge and her work with this vulnerable population. Dr. Hammes currently works as a Nurse Navigator at AFCH in the Pediatric Complex Care Clinic.
