My research is designed to promote the health of mothers, infants, and families. Specifically, I study perinatal and early-life exposures with the potential to affect short and long-term health outcomes. My work is supported by early and lactational programming hypotheses that describe the perinatal period as a unique developmental window with the capacity to affect health both immediately and throughout the lifespan.
Research focus areas
Children, Families and Reproductive Health
- Approaching research with an interdisciplinary and translational lens.
- Use of preclinical and clinical tools to better understand health status, primarily through investigation using non-invasive biomarkers.
- Long term research goals include understanding how maternal mental health status and treatment affect maternal and infant health outcomes.
