Dissertation Title: Examining Disparities and Experiences of respectful maternity care among immigrant and refugee women during perinatal Period in the U.S.
Practice Experience & Interests: Yamikani is currently a PhD student in the theory and practice track. She is also working as a project assistant for the National Institute of Nursing Research, the National Institute of Health R21 grant: Identifying outcomes and implementation strategies to optimize prenatal care coordination, and the leader for the study of the abroad program (Malawi). Past experience includes being a charge nurse for the labor and delivery unit, providing comprehensive midwifery services to both the mother and infant. She is interested in improving maternal and infant health outcomes through an equity lens.
