Dr. Jeff Kobernusz is a Clinical Faculty at the UW-Madison School of Nursing. Jeff has been an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner for 16 years, working as a Hospitalist for 8 years then transitioning to Orthopedic surgery with private practice group for 4 years. In 2018, he transitioned to UW Health where he continues to provide Orthopedic services at UPH Meriter Hospital. He teaches in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program in the advanced assessment courses, several foundations courses as well as clinical rotations courses.

Clinical Scholarship focus areas

Teaching and Learning

  • Organizes and develops content throughout the AGACNP specialty track to be aligned with national standards and competencies
  • Creation of active learning with several hands-on simulations including basic wound closure and suturing
  • Assists as core faculty to provide hands-on learning with Belize PA, NP, & School of Pharmacy spring clinical experience

Professional Practice and Education

  • Over 16 years of APRN clinical experience to help students transition from bedside RNs to APRNs
  • Vice President with the Wisconsin Nursing Association Nurse Practitioner Forum Board which works to protect and advance the role and practice of APRNs through active membership involvement in WNA’s structure and functions
  • DNP focus with emphasis in educational leadership
